#Distemper – one of the most traditional and cost effective house paint. It is one of the most commonly used basic house paints in Indian households.

#Emulsion – if you have kids and pets at home, this is the perfect choice. Emulsion creates a rich visual effect on the walls and is durable as well as easy to wipe off stains from.

#Enamel – this is one of the most expensive options in house paints. It gives a smooth and fine texture to the walls and is stain as well as water resistant.

House paints can also be categorised based on the various finishes they provide-

#Satin – an extremely silky finish, this has an amalgamation of matte and gloss.

#Gloss – a very long lasting reflective finish. Glossy finish can be cleaned multiple times.

#Matte – this is a non reflective finish, suitable to hide certain imperfections on the walls. Although its velvety texture might get difficult to clean from.

Paints are also categorised based on their texture – broadly there are two types available water based house paints and oil based house paints.
